Students at the Lower Manhattan Arts Academy (a small public high school on the Lower East Side), are hard at work this spring on mounting a production of the super soul musical, The Wiz.  We have fabulously talented and committed students in the cast and technical crew, but we need your help to make this project happen!  Your contributions at any level can help to buy materials for sets, costumes, props, the rental of sound equipment, and the hiring of guest musicians and sound technicians.  Support these amazing students as they "Ease On Down the Road" to the amazing land of Oz!

Director Kate Bell founded the Lower Manhattan Arts Academy Theater Ensemble (or LoMATE) in collaboration with the Henry Street Settlement and LoMA students in the fall of 2005.  With LoMATE, she has directed Mother Courage and Her Children, Once on This Island, 365 Days/365 Plays (in collaboration with student directors and Urban Youth Theater at Henry Street Settlement’s Abrons Arts Center), Pippin, The Tempest, RENT, Metamorphoses, A Chorus Line, The Laramie Project, HAIR, and The Crucible, as well as the student-written plays Hip-Hop Medea, This Is Us…Intertwined, and The Sex Plays, the latter of which was featured at the 2008 Rebel Verses Theater Festival at Center Stage NY.
