The second issue of this cartoon collaboration of US and UK ladies (with some Continental buddies) takes on the topic of TRAVEL.
The second issue of The Strumpet, the only comic to unite comix-loving ladies from the US and UK comix scenes, is in the works - and we need your help to make it a reality!
Our new, 'stretch' goal is to get 100 pre-orders through Kickstarter, so we can get the work of our wonderful cartoonists into more readers' hands. To do that, we're using some neat Kickstarter rewards to entice you to pre-order!
The Strumpet 2 will assemble the talents of Kripa Joshi (Miss Moti), Julia Scheele (Peckham Invalids), Patrice Aggs (The DFC and The Phoenix), Emily Ryan Lerner (Buy Olympia), Badaude (Tate, Guardian, Times), Tanya Meditzky (The Man Who Clapped), Choi Juhyun (Under The Skin of the Wolf), Robin Ha (Marvel), Karrie Fransman (The Guardian, the Times, The House that Groaned), and many more. This new collection will be 85+ pages (at least 30 pages more than our last issue), bursting at the seams with excellent stories and beautiful art.
Our theme: Going Places. We're obsessed with all things travel, and this issue will take you all over the world. Plus, the brilliant cover is by UK small press star Jeremy Day (Whores of Mensa, The Weekly Comic) - don't you need this book for your collection?
Pre-order today and receive some wonderfully Strumpetty gifts, as well as an invitation to our US and UK launch parties!
Thanks for your help reaching our goal!
Just send us a message, and when we've decided on our cover price we'll get in touch (we're finalizing our printer and page count now.) We're happy with doing your order as a sort of pre-consignment - 50% discount, and we cover shipping. Easy peasy!
Plenty of new artists have come onboard for this extravaganza - Strumpet 2 will be at least 20 pages longer than Strumpet 1! Baduade, Shamisa Debroey, Karrie Fransman, Robin Ha...the list of artists will excite anyone who's interested in new voices in cartooning. Stories include a tale of Italian train romance, a slightly humiliating look at the life of a movie extra, deep-sea exploration, and much more!
Check out our website FAQ: http://strumpetcomic.com/strumpet_faq.html There's more Strumpetty info there than you can shake a stick at!
Aie! Don't jinx us!!!
Just kidding - that's an excellent question.
We've been pleasantly surprised by the response to our second issue - and deeply grateful to our fans who've been so generous!
When we set up this Kickstarter, we only asked for about half of the budget for printing our second issue, planning to raise the rest at our US and UK launches.
So if we earn more than our goal, it doesn't mean that we have surplus funds - it's just less we have to raise through other means. Which we'd be very thankful for.
Our goal, as ever, is simply to get as wide a distribution as possible for our fantastic artists. Kickstarter is our main means of distribution, and your best chance of getting a copy. So if you can pre-order, please do! We want as many Strumpets as possible in the hands of those who will enjoy them!
