An action-packed satire about a radical ex-professor and her gang of followers who kidnap famous news anchor Thomas Brookstone.
A short film about radicalizing the media …
With one week left in the campaign, we are announcing our REACH GOAL of $14,750. Our total budget is $33,000, so we still need your help even though we reached our official Kickstarter Goal. Thank you so much to all our supporters!
THE PROFESSOR is an action-packed satire about a radical ex-Media Studies Professor and her gang of student followers who kidnap famous news anchor Thomas Brookstone and force him to read “The Real News” live on the internet as part of their campaign against corporate media. As the treatment of Brookstone becomes increasingly violent, the Professor’s most trusted student, George, starts to doubt her revolutionary cause.
Inspired by recent democratic protest movements throughout America and the world, THE PROFESSOR explores the role of new media in democracy and the dilemma of non-violent political action.
Where will your money go?
We are lucky to have all of our cast and crew contributing their talent and expertise for very little cost, but there are still numerous unavoidable expenses that come with making a film. We need to feed and house our 30-person cast and crew for a 6-day shoot in the woods. We need to rent locations, vehicles, and equipment, create complex original sets, costumes, and props, and be able to coordinate difficult stunts safely and realistically. After the shoot, we’ll be adding state-of-the-art visual effects, sound design, and music.
Our goal throughout will be to create a bold, professional, original film that all of our donors and contributors can be proud of, and we assure you that not a single penny will go to waste in that process. We are incredibly grateful for your help in making this community-funded independent film!
