The Project

We want to make amazing beer to share with you!

Swing Tree Brewing Company will be a family owned and operated brewery public house and live music venue located in Ashland, Oregon.  Our Mission at Swing Tree is to provide exceptional, handcrafted beer in a friendly and community-focused atmosphere. Our public house will also offer a modest menu based around our house made sourdough and other fermented foods. We want to provide a year-round “home-away-from-home” for our local friends and neighbors. It is our goal is to become a staple of the Ashland community by being committed to strong and responsible community development and by providing uncompromised quality in all our products. We are dedicated to living local, buying local, and supporting Southern Oregon’s emerging craft beer culture. 

The Beer

Anchor Brands:                                                                                                  

Swing Tree will offer 4 year-round anchor brands that you will be able to find every time you walk in our door. The Porch Swing is our flagship brew.  It is a light bodied, easy drinking pale ale with a nice, floral hop character. This beer is lower in alcohol so you can relax and have a few pints with friends and family after a hard days work. The Two Shilling Ale is a brown ale with a luscious, dark, caramel complexity.  The Lonely Trike is a bold and floral red ale.  And finally, any brewery in the Northwest would be crazy not to offer a hopped-up IPA, thus we give you the Obligatory IPA, which will not disappoint the thirsty hop-crazy masses.

Rotating Seasonal Selections:                                                                                

Swing Tree will have 4 rotating taps at the public house that will change every few months. These will include a tap for a wheat beer, a dark beer, and an IPA. We will also have a beer of the month which will give us a chance to have some fun with new and exciting recipes.

Specialties:                                                                                               

Swing Tree will regularly offer two traditionally prepared cask ales, also known as real ale. Real ale is unfiltered beer that is dosed with sugar, hops, and finings and left to ferment in a stainless steel cask. It is then served directly from that vessel at a slightly higher temperature then the regular ales. These tapings will be quite the sight to see!

We will also be offering spontaneously fermented beers, known as our Tradition Series. These beers will be fermented with the naturally occurring yeast and bacteria from the Rogue Valley air, which will give it a very distinct flavor. These beers will be aged in oak barrels and blended to create the perfect balance of flavors.

The Team

Brandon Overstreet, Brewer/President/Co-Founder                                           Brandon started as an avid homebrewer in 2005 and knew right away that making amazing beer was what he was supposed to do! Since then he expanded his craft and worked as a professional brewer at several established breweries. Now armed with 6 years of professional brewing experience and countless hours of business, market, and industry research, Brandon is ready to venture out and bring Swing Tree to reality.

Tanya Overstreet, Media Director/Restaurant General Manager/Co-Founder Tanya also started as a homebrewer in 2005 and has since immersed herself in the craft beer community. She has spent the last 6 years in the food service industry and is excited to compliment Swing Tree’s exceptional beer with equally pleasing fare.

Teri Burrill, Sales/Head Bartender                                                                                 Teri spent the past 7 years in sales and customer service. She received a degree in business and is excited to put this knowledge to work for Swing Tree. Although a newer convert to the craft beer world, Teri’s enthusiasm is not lacking and she can’t wait to share it with her patrons.

Your Pledge

While Swing Tree has been in the works for quite a few years (Brandon began conceptualizing it in 2006) we are getting close to making this dream a reality. While our overall project is going to cost much more than the $20,000 we are raising here, this kickstarter fund will help with some initial costs. We have our grand opening planned for early 2013 and this seed money will help get us there. Your pledge will fund:

• Professional services including lawyer and accountant fees
• Our Private Placement Memorandum (the legal paperwork enabling us to seek private investment partners)
• Licensing and permit fees
• Visual marketing design
• Other general corporate purposes
