Photo-main

I specialize in antique or "alternative" photographic printing processes that are primarily from the 1800's.

I will hike, trek, and climb mountains and crawl around on the ground looking for, and shooting fresh flowers, hand print them and deliver them to you.  It is not only my goal to capture these indigenous flowers, but also to draw attention to the value of natural beauty and the need for it's preservation.

My process is shooting digitally, critically editing, and then making digital negatives in order to print in various processes from the early 1800's.  These processes produce a variety of colors and styles that bring a unique perspective to each of my subjects.

The image above is a shot of a crescent moon rising. It is printed on watercolor paper in a process called gum bichromate. the brushstrokes you see are where the photographic emulsion was painted onto the paper. Each color of brushstroke, is a different layer of emulsion, and each layer gets developed separately.  These are the types of decisions that are yet to be made regarding the images in my proposed Wild Flower Capital Documentationseries.  In order to showcase how special and unique each flower is, I plan to print each flower  in the alternative process or combination of alternative processes that best suits that flower.  I will be using all UV light processes, Cyanotypes, Argyrotypes, Van Dyke Browns, and perhaps I will have to employ a new process for a particularly finicky flower.  Along with the process, I’d like to keep the sizes, paper types, and printing method solely with what works best for each image, with your blessing of course!
