About this project
1000 Haiku 1000 Strangers believes that everyone deserves to be the subject of a work of art.
Haiku represent the idea that art doesn't have to be large scale or highly complex to be meaningful. In a culture of endless choices, options and decisions, sometimes seventeen syllables make the most sense.*
1000 Haiku 1000 Strangers will celebrate the duality of life's simultaneous interrelatedness and uniqueness through creating 1000 varied works with shared themes but individualized words.
1000H 1000S will produce 1000 unique haiku, then create them in 1000 different ways--through methods like photography, needle work, stenciling, installation, to name a few. No single haiku, nor its method of creation, will be duplicated. Before mailing one to each of the first 1000 addresses received for this project, every haiku will be documented and entered into an online and publicly accessible database.
Each haiku's content and its method of delivery will be completely up to chance. 1000H 1000S Project wisely advises us to learn to rejoice in the beauty of what cannot be controlled.
1000 Haiku 1000 Strangers wants to go as far as you're willing to take it. Out of the country, off this continent, into space (haiku-inscribed space shuttle, anyone?) Send a haiku to yourself, to a beloved, to a neighbor, to an acquaintance, to a complete stranger. The haikus don't need to know the person they're going to, so why should you?

Lucky $25 donor gets you two individually crafted haiku, plus a haiku from the limited edition series.

For $100, I'll take some risks with your specially written haiku. No specifics, but it might be something bigger, something public, probably skirting on the edges of legality.

Take the reward from the $100 box, and multiply it times five.

For such a big spender, you'll get all the fun stuff of the $500 dollar donor, but I will also tattoo a haiku of your choice on to my body (but i get to choose the font).
