Amazing

Update #16 · Aug 18, 2012 · comment

hey all,

i know it has been a while since i've posted here. i've been hither and thither, namely new orleans, and have been in rehearsal with ddt on our Down The Congo Line project.

as you may remember, my pahtnah in crime, kiazi, and i resumed rehearsals the latter part of june to develop part two of Vessels, BaNkaka; Ndozi was part I. they've gone well so far, yielding a lot of fodder. today's rehearsal was off the hook; creative streams of thought flowed ragingly like the mighty Congo itself.

the creative process proves an amazing venture/partnership with us . kiazi deciphers my crazy, making sane those moments of chaos, which leads to brilliance. excitement doesn't begin to describe what i feel right now. my left shoulder is even on board!

BaNkaka: Those Who Sit With Us premieres february 2013.

Just A Peek-see!

Update #15 · May 30, 2012 · comment

Hey All,

It's been a while, I know.  Things are moving right along for Ndozi and its evolution into the larger work Vessels.  Next stop: BaNkaka.

We've edited one video of Ndozi down to a little over 5 minutes.  A challenge it was, seeing that the piece is about 35 minutes.  We have yet to view the second presentation of the work; so here's just a peek-see of the Ndozi premiere in Black Choreographers Festival 2012. Enjoy!

Chat soon,

LdT and Kiazi

Ndozi In The Warm Embrace

Update #14 · Apr 18, 2012 · comment
Well, the Ndzoi ensemble performed beautifully in the warm embrace of an open and appreciative audience this past Saturday for Dimensions Dance Theater's Down The Congo Line premiere. To say the audience was present and ready for every kernel of artistic offering would not do them justice; they gave as much as they received and more. I have only be in that space of complete reciprocity in an artistic environment once that I can remember-- Dimensions' 30th anniversary. I applaud those who attended the performance last Saturday; they made the experience from the stage that much more memorable.
