A big update, one week in.
First, thanks to all for the support! Making great headway into a big goal: to provide great craft beer to the region.
If you haven't already passed this on to friends, please do -- the more that contribute, the bigger we'll grow.
At this point, we'd like to answer the most popular questions we've had (these will also be added to the FAQ):
Q: will you bottle/can/etc., and sell in stores?
A: To some degree, yes, but our focus for getting going is on in-house draft sales and local restaurants. We do plan to bottle some really, really neat beer before long. Don't worry, we'll let you good folks know first (and super special releases will get pre-release notices...)
Q: lots of kickstarter projects have limits to each reward. You guys have no limits..?
A: Excellent observation, we try to be limitless. Our goal of $30,000 is what we need to successfully make a go of this project. It isn't like we can't do more with more funding. We certainly can -- indeed, we plan to continue to reinvest and develop great things! If we get thousands of lifetime mug club members at the $100 donation mark, great! We'll be funded to support that, too. Bring it on!
Q: what kind of food will you have there?
A: whatever kind of food you bring. We're beer people. Maybe someday something else will come of this, and we do LOVE food, but we want to supply what we know best: craft brewed beer. There are quite a few good restaurants and food trucks right there -- just a 2 minute walk away -- and maybe we'll work something out even better with one or more of them. For now, though, we'll provide the space, tables, atmosphere, and most importantly: beer.
Q: why Bristol, CT?
A: Honestly, we think this is an up-and-coming spot. There is already so much going for it. Most people ask this having been there fifteen or more years ago and didn't think highly of it then. We can't speak to that. We can say that having been there recently, we are sure this is a great spot. It is convenient from RT 6 or RT 72, not too bad to get to from I-84, and a heck of a charming downtown that keeps getting better. We kind of think of this as getting in with the town on the ground level of their reinventing.
Q: so if you raised way more than $30k, what would you do with that?
A: on the technical side, it would allow for more controls over special fermentation demands. It could mean more lagers (they require more costly equipment; we have plans for one-at-a-time for now). It could mean a better bottling system, getting into stores sooner with bottles. This all depends on "how much more are we talking?" We're really very happy to get running and grow from there, but as already stated: we'll rise to the occasion. In fact, we'll beat your expectations. We promise.
Q: Why do you wear goggles?
A: Just in case.
Cheers!
