16 years after the collapse of civilization, an isolated family must decide how to deal with a half-feral drifter.

The story goes like this: With a successful $10,000 Kickstarter campaign, Tribe was an attempt to shoot a short film with the scale and production quality of a Hollywood movie. We needed costumes, props, a crew of seventeen people and live animals to film in an environment so cold it froze every motorized piece of machinery we brought we us. It was an expedition shoot with a margin of error of close to zero. No cell phones. No internet.
And we only had four and a half days.
Despite the forward vehicle hitting a deer on the drive up well outside of cellphone range, despite the cook secretly having a stomach virus which she managed to transmit to no one, and despite conditions that literally froze your eyelids together, we did it.
We shot the movie.
Fast forward six months. The film has turned out better than I could have hoped. It met our original goals and then some. The picture, the pacing, the acting. It's all there. You could say we hit a bullet with a bullet. Which is why we're going back to Kickstarter.

We want the the film to be the best that it can be, and to do that means marrying the quality of the picture with quality sound design and scoring. We've brought on board an incredibly talented musician, Giancarlo Vulcano who worked with Howard Shore on movies such as the Departed, Lord of the Rings, and a History of Violence. He's currently employed by a little show called 30 Rock, which some people might remember as having one of the best soundtracks to any sitcom. Ever.
Three large will cover his score plus a talented sound designer to bring the audio home. But what if we go over? Well, I'm glad I asked myself that question. As some of you may or may not know, festival submissions cost a pretty penny. Many of them are $50 for a short film, which can add up very quickly. Any additional funds will go towards the festival fund.
