15 years after society's collapse an isolated family decides if they can trust a feral interloper, the 1st person they've seen in years
TRIBE is about what happen to our values when the technology and comforts that allow us to behave the way we do in modern society are stripped away. Fifteen years after the collapse of modern civilization, a half-feral young man, Patrick, is intercepted heading north in the middle of winter by a man named Mike. Much to Mike's surprise, Patrick claims that the power is back on in Montreal, the closest major city. Faced with the possibility of returning to society, Mike and his family must decide whether or not they can trust the first person they've seen in years.
The goal of this project is to make a Hollywood quality short film (around 20 minutes) on an extremely minimal budget. We'll be filming on Cranberry Lake in the Adirondack State Park in upstate NY, a hauntingly beautiful and lonely place in the winter. As of right now the production schedule is 5 days, and we'll be shooting over President's Day weekend in 2012. It's a 6 hour trip each way from NYC, and taking the sub-zero conditions into account it's going to be a brutal shoot.
The temperature gets down to 0 degrees that time of year, and the wind picks up serious speed over the surface of the lake where we'll be shooting. Coupled with an all-day shooting schedule and complex camera routines, it's going to push the mental and physical limits of everyone involved. I do not speak lightly when I say that this shoot will probably be one of the hardest things I've ever done.
Which is all the more reason to do it.
We're going to need to rent snow-mobiles, trained dogs, gear that's going to perform in this environment, pay for food and lodging for an approximately 15 person crew for 5 days, make costumes that look like they've been worn in the wilderness for 15 years, choreograph fight scenes (including a dog getting shot with an arrow), pay for rehearsal space, transportation, set decoration and more. The list goes on, and on.
It's an extremely exciting time to be making films. Never before has the craft been as accessible as it is now, and I'm over the moon about the prospect of seeing a film of this scale become a reality. I have the time commitments of many friends and extremely talented professionals to help me see this become of a reality, but we need funding to make it happen.
UPDATE: If you claim a higher tier reward, the lower tier rewards will be included in the final delivery so long as it is not a limited item.
