In 2006 I joined Facebook. I clearly remember my first wall post: "Let's see how long this lasts." I guess we have the answer now: about 6 years.

I posted that because I predicted they would delete my account like Myspace repeatedly had. My email had been flagged by Myspace, and every time I tried to start a new Myspace page it wouldn't let me. I didn't think Facebook would take this long to figure out that I was a "dangerous predator" and delete my account. I guess it finally took a whole lot of me advertising myself as a 'sex offender' to get them to notice. Maybe they were doing routine searches for inappropriate material. Maybe someone flagged my page to be checked. Guess I'll never know. All I know is that I tried to log in and it said my account had been deleted due to ineligibility for a page. I am going to write them soon and ask why, and see if they are willing to interview with me on camera about it. I predict that they will politely decline or just not answer me, but it's worth a shot!

It's kind of fun to be censored. Fires me up. Lets me know I must be doing something right.

As far as progress on the movie, it's at something of a standstill again while I explore a few potential possibilities. Keep hangin' in there. Our message is still boiling in my bones and just waiting to explode out all over the planet... I am practicing patience and biding my time a bit to ensure that happens in the best way possible.

Not long ago, this project felt like a pipe dream.

One month later...

$11,805 RAISED with the help of 118 backers TOWARDS PRODUCING THIS FILM!!! 112% of the goal amount!!! Including..

FIVE $1000 DONATIONS... one from an LA-based foundation that has offered their continued guidance... one from my ol' AA sponsor, supporter, and friend... and three from people I didn't know before this project!  

Help by offer of interviews from Christopher Ryan, Jesse Friedman, Janice Bellucci, Nancy Irwin, several others that I can easily assume will interview when asked... and a whole lot of registrants and loved ones of registrants who offered involvement...

Still a little more than 24 hours to go, and our project has been funded 100% and then some. I am such a mix of feelings right now I can't describe it. I can feel my heart thumping, my eyes are wet, and my hands are trembling as I type this while sitting in a Coffee Bean on Sunset Boulevard. 

The fundraiser will still actively accept donations until the deadline at 11am Pacific / 2pm Eastern tomorrow (Thursday). Any funds raised in addition to the goal amount will go toward making the trailer and film that much better. I am a big believer in transparency with money.. as promised early on, as this project goes on I will make the entire budget and expenditures publicly viewable to backers. Possibly on a members-only or password-protected area on the website. Within a few days of the project closing, the "home source" of up-tp-date information for the project will shift to americansexoffender.com. Go bookmark it now. As I've repeated many times, go to the "I Want to Help" tab on that page and submit the form in detail with any way you desire to help - whether you are interested in interviewing for the film, helping with production in your area, offering a special kind of expertise, or have a creative talent such as music or design or organization that you wish to contribute. If you know anyone with access to any of that, point them to that site and that tab as well.

It will take Kickstarter and Amazon up to several weeks to deliver the money to my account. In the meantime, I want to assemble and organize a team of volunteers who each have very specific and easy roles. I am interested in finding people who can put a couple hours worth of work a week into the project. A few potential examples are: maintaining the list of potential stories and locations, researching possible additional funding agencies / submitting proposals to them, and being in charge of craigslist ads in different areas for production hiring. I've already gotten a lot of offers like this, and if you've mentioned that already to me and submitted it in the "I Want to Help" tab, there's no need to repeat yourself - I already got it, and I haven't been able to reply to many of them yet. If you haven't done that yet and are interested, please do let me know in that form. This really helps me because it all goes to a dedicated email address... when I get emails to my normal email they may get lost in the jumble. More on the volunteer team in the coming days.

Also in the coming days, you'll get an email about the reward level you chose. That's where I'll get any info I might need to complete your reward. I look forward to doing all that.

After I get the money I'll be getting equipment and setting up interviews and we'll go on from there! I'm still kind of a newbie at twitter, but I have an account now - @kevinscottfoley. So follow me there, and stay tuned to see if I ever start using it. :)

A lot of organization is in the near future, and today and tomorrow I'm going to try to relax a little and take a much-needed mental rest. I already feel my body physically relaxing more, and I might even treat myself to a massage today! Haha. I hope you treat yourself to something too. You've contributed to a potentially world-changing cause. It's cheesy and I believe it. 

I consider myself greatly in debt to all of you who contributed from 1 to 1000 dollars to get this done. My payoff of that debt will come in the form of hard organizational and creative work - and modest living - until this film is everywhere, and beyond.

Hello precious backers! It's REALLY coming down to the wire!!! Here we are, 24 hours and change from the final deadline for American Sex Offender to become more than just a dream. Thanks to the campaign's fourth $1000 donation, pledged by a close friend, mentor, and supporter of mine in the past 3 years of my life, WE ARE NOW ONLY ABOUT $1500 DOLLARS AWAY. That sounds like a very attainable goal! I believe we didn't pool our efforts and pledges and come all the way from zero dollars to nearly $9,000 dollars in 13 days just to fall this short at the end. The final 24 hours will nevertheless need to be the BIGGEST single day of the campaign.

I know a lot of you have put a lot of effort into this... tirelessly posting on your facebook, posting on websites, sending the news out on twitter and calling up personal friends. I'm asking you to help by making yet another final push this final 24 hours. I'm asking you to increase your own pledges if you can bear to afford it. This is the very first time in my entire life I've felt truly justified in asking people for money!!!

I appreciate so many of you for sending me your stories.. they have blown me away, and helped me see that the sex offender registry and legal systems have caused a tremendous amount of needless and undeserved pain in people's lives, FAR beyond what I have personally experienced. We are people that have caught a glimmer of hope beyond feeling helpless and voice-less, and this is our chance to take the next powerful step in bringing this message to the world.

As little as $55/hour pledged until the deadline will get us there. Let's do it!!!
