MASS
A Theater Piece for Singers, Players, and Dancers
Leonard Bernstein
Houston Cecilia, in collaboration with VOX and the HSPVA Treble Singers, presents what's sure to be a musical highlight of the spring season: Leonard Bernstein's MASS, performed in its entirety for the first time in Houston! Bernstein's powerful magnum opus, composed in 1971, is a stunning meditation on faith, the nature of God, and the way we think about community and spirituality. Part modernistic setting of the ancient Latin Mass text, part rock opera, part crisis-of-faith drama, scored for three choruses, orchestra and rock band, it truly has to be seen to be believed!Such a gigantic project requires significant funding.
Please consider making a donation - any amount helps! - to support the first performance of this major musical masterwork in Houston!
Thank you!
