Kickstarter

Yesterday I shot the last pickup shots for the film. The previous week me and Abby shot some stuff to use for psychedelic special effects in the film. So, now I can give Brian back his camera. I will miss it.

For those of you who are interested it's a Canon 1014 XL-S which means it was fitted  for sound recording. However, I didn't record sound into the camera --super8 sound film sounds terrible.

Anyhow, I've been getting some feedback on the rough cut, and fine tuning it. I'm expecting some more notes tomorrow and I hope to lock picture by the end of the month. I am happy to welcome my old sound mixer from Strange Girls Federico Gonzalez on board. He is willing to embrace my decision to cut on FCP X (most sound people and film editors are running from this software like from a house on fire). Also, Abby is working on some visual effects for me in After Effects.

Below you'll find some stills, with old fashioned effects. The spiral I drew by hand to give it that Saul Bass look, and then I reduced it's opacity and layered it over the image of Jean Jeanay but under a version of her with the black keyed out.

The color image of Lovey was done Jefferson Airplane style. A fishtank full of water with food coloring dropped in.
