Summer is HERE, gratitude is ON.
My dear Patrons,
THANK YOU ALL! You’re bringing me so close to my goal I can taste it. I hear the last two weeks are the roughest, so I’m continuing to put the word out and update you on my progress. It’s a fine line between promotion and pestering… I’m learning how to walk it and not fail the breathalyzer test.
For all of you who have already pledged $25.00 I’m CHANGING THE REWARD to include a download of the first chapter when it’s published. So if you know of anyone who may want to contribute toward seeing this manuscript into print, please pass on my Kickstarter link and tell them $25.00 gets them a download of the first chapter. Since some $25.00 rewards have already been claimed, I can’t edit that category, I can only spread the word (with your gracious help).
Thought I’d post a few photos of where it’s all happening this summer. The writing, that is. No, I’m not taking the Kickstarter money to run off to Paris and rent a flat on the Ile St. Louis, I’m sticking right here at home, where I have FOUR WRITING SPOTS nearly as pretty as Paris. Each serve a different purpose, each with its own charms.
Here’s a personal peek into my BEDROOM WRITING NOOK, KITCHEN, CAVE and GARDEN.
The NOOK is for late night inspiration when I’m compelled to leap from the bed and get it down quickly. Sometimes these are the most impassioned passages, skimming that hazy time just before the dreaming…
The KITCHEN (table, yes the one with the rooster lamp) is for internet commerce and an occasional burst for the book, or sometimes even dreamy bits. Plus it keeps me close to the tea kettle. I can gaze off into the garden. Rest my eyes from the screen, heart from the memories.
The GARDEN itself is lovely almost all year round. Here I can beat away on the keyboard and take bits of respite by nudging the progress of the wild rocket arugula crop, pruning the zebra plant or picking dead leaves off the grapefruit tree.
The CAVE is mostly for music, but a heavy dose of nuts and bolts writing is accomplished here. I thrash around and get up to all sorts of antics in la Cave!
That’s all for the peek into my writing process. I’m hard at work on the manuscript, and I also had great news yesterday from the Empress Arianna, who has posted my first piece on Huffington Post’s Politics section. I’m thrilled to be blogging for Huff Post. Do they know what they’re in for? ;-)
As summer officially begins, I’m filled with gratitude and love for you all. May your summer be filled with fun, and a swimming hole or two…
xo Adele B.
