Life-sized stop-mo animals and skeletons, animated in the real world using time lapse.
A 4-5 minute thesis film towards by BFA in Film and Animation at RIT. Production will take place between June 2012 and May of 2013.
I designed this film to demonstrate my abilities as a stop-motion animator and puppet fabricator. Your donations will go toward building full-sized puppets of animals and their skeletons, which will be animated in the real world, in neighborhoods and other locations around Rochester. As the creatures move, the physical atmosphere will change as the sun moves across the sky and the clouds form and part. The film will explore the relationship between organic life and the fabricated environment it's been forced to survive in.
Your money will go towards puppet fabrication, shipping costs, cost of shooting with a crew, travel, DVDs, and submission to film festivals. The actual budget is higher than my goal of $800, but I'm hoping to raise money other ways, too.
You can find updates on this project on my tumblr, annatheanimator.tumblr.com, tagged with "anna w's thesis". More examples of my animated work can be found at vimeo.com/annawhistler. Thank you for your support!
