Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on December 11, 2010.

The Debate Society is bringing their hit play about Cops, Christmas and Racquetball back for one week only in January, 2011.

ONE WEEK LEFT!

We reached our target! Thanks to all who have supported! And remember: there is still time to give. As you know, our Kickstarter campaign funds only a portion of our total show budget. We're working to raise the remaining $5000 needed through other means . . . so any Kickstarter donations beyond our target amount will be extremely helpful. All of the donations above the goal will be used to better promote the play to international and national presenters coming to APAP - printing of postcards, signs for outside the theater, editing and distributing show promo videos - the important things that will allow us to make the connections that we need to turn these 6 performances into future engagements for Buddy Cop 2 and The Debate Society. For more info, check out the project info below. THANKS!!

Buddy Cop 2 is back!

We're The Debate Society and we want to bring our recent hit play, Buddy Cop 2, back for one week in January.

Buddy Cop 2 is a comedic action/mystery of holiday nostalgia and athletic rigor. The play centers around three small town cops who get drawn into the mysterious events surrounding a strange little girl. It's also about growing up, radio bingo, being scared . . . and racquetball.

We originally premiered Buddy Cop 2 at the Ontological-Hysteric Theater in Manhattan in May, 2010 and it was our most successful play to date. Fantastic press and word of mouth made the show sell out super quick, so we're excited to bring it back for all those who weren't able to see it. Final performance dates haven't been nailed down, but we'll be at the wonderful Atlantic Stage 2 theater.

"This downtown gem, full of minor-key revelations and offhand epiphanies, roots its quirky charm in an earnest and surprising realism. Charming, offbeat, sneakily funny. [CRITIC'S PICK]" - NYTimes

APAP? What's APAP?

We will be performing Buddy Cop 2 during the annual Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) Conference. It's a time when presenters and producers from all around the world converge on NYC to scout out new shows to produce at their venues. So along with bringing back the show for New York audiences, a big goal of this remount is to book domestic and international tours of our production. This is our big chance to make these connections and an incredible opportunity to expand the reach and reputation of our company.

"Wistful and sweet and uncanny. The delightful, oddly delicate Buddy Cop 2 is steeped in Christmas cheer. [Four Stars. CRITIC'S PICK]" - TimeOutNY

What we need.

It is going to cost us more than $15,000 to remount Buddy Cop 2 for one week. We are hoping you will help us raise at least $5000 of that via Kickstarter. The Debate Society is a 501(c)(3) organization; so all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.

"Packed with nonchalant theatrics and smoldering intensity. Bos, Thureen and Butler have woven an accomplished yarn. [CRITIC'S PICK]" - Backstage
