The future of publishing any work of fiction is the self-publishing avenues available to authors of today. No longer are we required to use large publishing houses to achieve our dreams of being a published writer. No longer do we need to suffer through years of rejection notices and form letter responses to our hard-earned works. 

With this new technology comes the benefit of being able to get our voice, our story, out there to the masses while cutting out the middle man of the large corporations who are only interested in turning a profit. Works of art in literature are now widely available to anyone with a Kindle, or an iPad, or even just a bookshelf. 

However, along with these great benefits comes some harder work on the part of the author. We have to market ourselves, rather than letting a publisher do it for us. We have to target our own audiences, and convince them that our words are worth investing in. We have to be confident beyond a shadow of a doubt that our book is really worth selling.

This is the position I find myself in, with my novel Dialos. I know that there is a market for romance novels, but how to tap into that market has been the difficult (and educational) part. The novel is now approximately 40% completed, and I expect it to be fully completed by the end of this year. 

The funds from this Kickstarter fundraiser will be used to pay self-publishing costs for both the print version and the ebook version of the novel. They will pay for the printing costs of the book, the marketing of the ebook and print version, and the listing of the book in various venues. It will also pay for the shipping and processing costs of those receiving the rewards for different pledge amounts (see the table to the right). 

With your help, this work will be completed, and marketed properly, to maximize its influence in the sphere of romance novels.
