As the big man said "let there be light" and there was. Please help Gentleman Jack Theatre get their show glowing

All’s Well That Ends Well will take place in the Unitarian Chapel, Brunswick Square, Bristol BS2 5PE from Tuesday 27th November – Saturday 8th December. The space is beautiful, the interpretation of this fairytale gone wrong is exciting and the press are looking forward to seeing the result. We’ve got a bespoke costumier on board who will dress the cast in his incredible designs and handmade props to decorate the space. This production will be the most physical show to date with ladders forming an integral core to the show- a compelling moving set the cast scale and utilise to enable the narrative…

BUT without any lights the audience can’t see this hard work!

We have a lighting designer who has kindly donated his time to draw up plans. For the show and space to be lit to their full potential we need:

- 12 1/2 K (650watt) Fresnells with barndoor and gel frame
- 2 x 3-6 way dimmer racks with DMX
- 2 x 32 Amp to 13 amp jumpers
- 4 x 2.5m lighting stand
- 1 x lighting desk
- 15/16amp TRS 12 x 5m
- DMX Control Leads; 4 x 5m

We have been quoted £250 to hire everything on this list for our two-week run and the equipment-hire company has provisionally booked us in while we raise funds.

Gentleman Jack Theatre is increasingly being recognised as a rising theatre company in Bristol, our shows as something not to be missed. By donating you are helping us to create our most ambitious show yet and be a part of this increasing recognition. It means a great deal to us that you would help us out and get this show glowing!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Because we do not create work for theatres, every space creates its own specific challenges. For this production the challenge is getting the set and lighting into a space with no wall or ceiling fixings to suspend them from or secure them to.

The second challenge of the space is it is shared use- on some days they have activities during the day which require the set to be taken down, stored, then set back up again that night. This means the lighting design must be easy to de-rig then re-rig a number of times over the run. We are very lucky to have an experienced lighting designer donate his time for free to come up with solutions to these challenges.
