hey everybody- by now, if you replied to the kickstarter address survey, you should have received the zine or it should be well on its way to you. if you supported the project but you missed the mailing address survey, try checking your spam filter, or contact me personally. there are a limited number of first-run signed and numbered zines left, from the original batch of 35 for any collectors out there. and i envision a small second run of the zine vis a vis magcloud, my publisher- if demand warrants it. tell your friends, hunty kids ;-) if you're one of those people who was like "i'll buy it someday", this is that day. and just think, your purchase of my little work of art will help fund my camping escapades in tennessee this summer where i'll be bringing feast and festival, and may enable the providence of experiential and developmental material for future publications and project-objects, if you liked this one. ;~}

Update #8 · Mar 13, 2013 · comment

It's that time again my furry friends...

Spring is almost upon us, and for those of you that sent me your mailing addresses or who have encountered me in New York on the set of the Forest of the Future, the zine is heading your way or perhaps already in your hands. As you may recall, this time a year ago, I began this project as I headed out to the Zuni mountains of New Mexico to celebrate my first Beltane. I didn't expect to get attacked by fire there, nor did I expect to get held at gunpoint weeks later in Philadelphia. The timbre of the work was affected, because these are the things I lived. People hurt. They get loved and lost. We go looking for answers. I hope the work will largely speak for itself- it was my first printed, bound and semicommercially published creation. I also hope that, shadows and all, you see the light in it. I've taken to looking for the points of illumination in what can be a shady world at times, and if indeed a vision walk was undertaken between then and now, it ended up taking on questions around finding one's own light to see by.

As for what I'm up to now, my current attentions have been given over to building a Faerie Forest tucked away in the secret bricks and lofts of Greenpoint, NYC. Feel free to check out what sorts of histories & herstories we've been making here at www.forestofthefuture.com . We have three more days of public programming, breakdown, cleanup and packout will take us through next Wednesday, I head to Maine for a couple of nights to check in with fam and swap out the winter drag for the glittering garb of spring and summer. Collaborative artwork and community work are calling to me from the faerielands of Tennessee, where the journey moves into its next phase at the end of this month. Love and light from the Forest of the Future, M

Hey all

Update #7 · Feb 18, 2013 · comment

dear darling starling sterling whirling hunties. hello from new york. hello from green point. all of you who elected to receive the zine in return for your generous support of my little project should have by now received an email survey, the vessel by which i need to receive your shipping information so that i can get the zines shipped to you. so send me that and then go out there in the world and juggle word and deed and light and life, and perhaps some of my emotive and affective tracings on this palimpsest that is our shared reality, and the physical record of these tracings, will offer up for you something demonstrative or hopeful or cautionary or mythopoetic, as it were.

the unseen and the in between

Update #6 · Nov 28, 2012 · comment

friends and backers all,

thank you for your extended patience as i have continued to work and rework this story- this adventure- this zine.  what was supposed to be a light, airy work, summoned and unleashed with a snap of the fingers and a bat of the hand took on a whole other series of themes this year.  i encountered adventure, the arc of the icarus, the trudge of the exodus, tragedy and baroque romanticism, a je ne sais quois or a jamais vu at every turn. what was once fantastical has become autobiographical, and this zine will be the ultimate recorded testimony.  all of this is to say, there's a lot of material to chose from; i've been doing a lot of living.  in fact, most of my visual material is already compiled and ready for the printer.  the trouble has been in finding the right words- and i do think this is a story that is incomplete without its words.  i've been living, working, creating out of vermont this fall and am feeling utterly refreshed and inspired, and now i owe you all some really juicy teasers leading up to the zine itself being printed, posted, and mailed over the next month. keep your eyes peeled. more to follow soon.
