Update #3: Song preview!

Posted on June 9, 2011

HERO has been on the back burner for the last couple of weeks as I've been working on the house I just bought!  But now I'm back at it- finishing the script, using my trip to the Boundary Waters next week to finish songwriting, and then we head into rehearsals!

I thought I'd send out a little teaser for everybody- an original song by our composer, Nicholas Jacobson Larson!  This is a bit of a "tribute song" to the plane.  It's not totally finished, but you'll get the idea- enjoy!

Update #2: WE MADE IT!

Posted on May 21, 2011

Awesome!  HUGE thanks to everybody for such an outpouring of support- totally great.

So, what comes next?

Well, currently, I'm deep in the thick of writing the script and lyrics, and talking with Nicholas Jacobson Larson, the composer, who's cranking out some killer tunes.  While Jordan and Soren were in town, we were able to get up to Duluth to actually get inside a real PBY, which was pretty dang cool.  However, it made me realize that we're not actually going to be able to build the set to scale, as Jordan's head stuck out the top of the cockpit.  Theatrical license will win that fight, I'm afraid!

We also just got a slew of great books about PBYs and their role in the war, which is REALLY fascinating stuff.  And funny!  We just found out that there were apparently major issues with the bomb release on the plane, because the stove they had on board drew too much power.  So, they were reduced to only eating soup and coffee on their 12 hour shifts.

What a contraption.

More to come, and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
