Nine months ago we asked for your help opening a brewery in downtown Mason City, IA

Thanks to your generous support we not only met, but blew away our Kickstarter goal.  This allowed us to start out with some better equipment and get into the perfect location.

As I am sure all of you know from following us on Facbook, it has been quite a journey.  Doing things like scouting locations, negotiating leases, negotiating purchasing contracts, programming automation, building a walk-in cooler, educating ourselves on the complex federal, state, and local regulations.  We've already brewed almost 500 gallons and plan to brew another 500 before opening.

After all of this, we are still just as passionate about our dream project and are happy to today announce that we will be open for business Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Noon!

For those mug club members, be sure to bring your mugs.

For all other Kickstarter supporters, make sure to bring your best smile and grab one of us when you are in the brewery.  We have a special treat for our "Founder's Club" members (hint that's you!).

It's a long journey to build a brewery from scratch and we are getting closer every day!  Check out some of the photos below to see a timeline of our progress.  We have now put all the drywall up, painted, put the floor in the brewing and fermentation areas, installed the vent hood, and brought in the majority of our equipment.

Next steps are to get the plumbing finished, the electrical inspected, hook the brew system up, and last but not least, BREW!

Hope this update finds you all well and we can't wait to invite you to the grand opening in the near future.  As soon as we are ready to set an official date, you will be the first to know.

Well it has officially be 52 days since the submission of our grueling federal application for Brewers Notice from the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) and we are pleased to announce we have been APPROVED!

What does this mean?

We are one step closer to being able to legally produce amazing beer for you all to drink.  The next step is to go before the Mason City City Council on 11/6 and get approval for operation of our brewery in Mason City.  Once the city signs off, the state will provide us our remaining permits and we will be ready to get to work producing beer!

Brewery Build Out Update

We are getting closer to having the build out completed.  For those of you who attended the open house, since that time we have gotten the electrical done and will begin putting the floors down and drywall up shortly.  Continue checking Facebook for the latest pictures.

Merch Shipping Update

We have all the merch boxed and going out in the mail via USPS.  It took some extra time, but in order to make sure you get everything in one piece, we sent a couple test packages and the results are back to the brewery successfully!  Depending on delivery times to your area from the USPS, you should start seeing your packages arrive in the next week or so.  For those of you who live in or around Mason City, let us know if you would like to arrange to pick your stuff up directly from the brewery (contact@masoncitybrewing.com).

Hey Backers!

Mason City Brewing will be featured on IPR's River to River program this Friday, August 31 at Noon. Tune in to your local IPR station to hear the segment about the brewing industry in Iowa.  We will be participating on the second half of the segment.
