Update #5: Back from Vegas & busy busy busy!
Hello all you lovely & generous people!
I'm sorry this update has taken FOREVER to post!
Since returning from Vegas I have been a little ( or a lot ) slammed. I've been working on filling orders and of course playing catch up at my day job. The office really missed me while I was away.
I'm starting to gather steam again and now you can find 2 posts on blog that detail my time in the city of sin. I met a lot of amazing folks, learned a lot about the industry, picked up some awesome new wholesale clients & had total effing blast while doing it.
Vegas is officially not on the list of my favorite cities - but I'm thinking I will be returning for another show in February.

As for your goodies - I'm working diligently on hand making your rewards and my goal is to have everyone's packages in the mail by Halloween.

Update #4: Up Up & Away!
Oh wow - in just a few days I will be on a plane headed to Vegas & I've got you all to thank for it. I've been butchering that old John Denver song ALL week! Everybody - together now!...
"Leavin' on a jet plane! I don't know when I'll be back again! "
It's just fun to sing. I just is.
This summer has been nuts! There were moments of panic where I worried that I wouldn't be able to pull this off - but that is all behind me now. Samples are in, promotional materials are arriving. My bags are close to packed and I feel strangely zen about everything. I'm usually not very zen, but I'm liking it. It's a nice change of pace.
You know what else is nice? The show isn't until next week and orders from brand new stores are already starting to come in!
Again - I have all of you to thank.. AND speaking of thanks - all of your thank you goodies will be sent out after I return from Vegas!

Update #3: Success!
With 2 weeks left here on kickstarter Model Citizen is officially 123% funded!
If you listen closely you can probably hear me squealing with joy - no matter where in the world you are. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
Preparation for the show is coming along nicely! I've been updating my line sheet with jewelry pieces that will be available wholesale. Putting together custom order forms... which is fairly boring, but last night I got a chance to work on the fun stuff! I was up until 2am dreaming up the perfect booth design with my talented architect friend, Adrianne Perlman. I'm pretty excited to announce that along with a faux grass floor there will be stand up cardboard cutouts of a few of my favorite Tiger Ladies that will be greeting buyers as they enter the booth!! We were going to make banners, but when we got to talking costs the cut outs were not only more exciting but they were totally cheaper. The anxiety is slowy melting away and a glittery excitement is taking its place!
Since I'm past my minimum funding goal and there are two weeks left I'm setting a new goal!
$1,500 is where Model Citizen has reset it's aim.
We're only $270 away from that! Just saying it kind of blows my mind! To all of you who have already been so rad and donated some scratch to the cause - Thank You! If you were here I would hug you (like a lot) & then we would cut a rug together!
Because that is how we do it here at MC Headquarters!

Update #2: Oh my goodness!
Wow, here we are only 1 week later and the Model Citizen booth at POOL is officially paid for! Color me flattered and thankful for your overwhelming amount of support!
With 23 more days left here on Kickstarter I'm feeling insanely optimistic! Maybe enough will be raised to help me cover plane tickets or hotel rooms! I've never been to Las Vegas before & I'm kinda shocked by how expensive it is to get there - considering people go there to gamble.. and potentially lose money! Silly people!
Again - you are all so very generous and I thank you, thank you, thank you for helping my dream come true! I will start sending out rewards after the fund raiser has ended.

Update #1: I am totally blushing!
Wow - this is a totally overwhelming amount of support! In less than 24 hrs over half of my goal has been met! I have to say - before I posted this yesterday afternoon I was feeling a little depressed, a lot overwhelmed (in a bad way) and quite strange about asking for money from the people who have already been so supportive of me & Model Citizen. Now - the clouds are parting and I'm feeling not only optimistic but creatively inspired! Not just for POOL but in general. I was hoping my creative community would show their love and you totally have! I've got a case of the warm and fuzzies and I'm glad I caught it from all of you!
Well, only $325 more to go in the next 28 days to reach my goal! If it continues to go this well I'll take stressing over plane tickets off my list of things to do. You are all amazing & I could NEVER thank you enough!
I'd like to give a shout out to my Starlet - Whitney Lee (of http://whitneyleephotography.com fame)!
Through this kickstarter project I got my first gig making a music video! I'll be creating a video for her band Black Cock! Who's excited? It's me! I'll post it on Facebook when it's ready to roll!
On a side note:
A lot of you who have donated already should consider POOL as the next step for you and your clothing/jewelry lines. When I get back from this trip in August I'd love to have you all over for snacks & cocktails so I can share how it went and help you all prepare for your big day at market! I'm sure I'll make some valuable mistakes you can learn from ;) You know - many years ago when I got stared Kathy Sever of Ramonster Wear ( http://www.ramonsterwear.com/ ) took me out for coffee and told me about how she got started and things she would have done differently - nothing could have been more helpful. She still continues to lend me a hand to this day by pledging. She is amazing! Thank You Kathy!

a line of T-shirts, dresses, hoodies, yoga wear, jewelry, accessories & more emblazoned with edgy, punk-y, empowering, delightfully brash designs not always associated with a “model citizen”.
Rue, who volunteers often at Austin’s homeless shelter & donates regularly to women’s rights groups & charities (very model-citizen behavior), draws designs inspired by the antics of her friends, the music she grew up surrounded with & that surrounds her now & puts them on a variety of curve-enhancing clothing items as well as jewelry, tote bags & other accessories for good girls, geeks,
craft-erellas & laid-back fashionistas.
