About this project
Hello Lovelies! Allow me to introduce myself, I am Bonnie Rue. The creator of Model Citizen Clothing. It's not just a name. It's the way I try to live my life. I often volunteer at a homeless shelter here in Austin, TX. I donate to womens rights groups & charities. It all started years ago when I made a few t-shirts thinking that I'd sell them and have some extra cash to pass on to organizations that were trying to change the world & look out for people who needed someone to get their back. It quickly became so much more! Where we once had 2 t-shirt designs we now have countless t-shirts, dresses, hoodies, yoga wear & even jewelry. Now we've got a chance to go big time and spread the word & spirit of Model Citizen!
Recently Model Citizen Clothing has been accepted as a 1st time participant at the POOL Trade Show in Las Vegas, NV. If you are unfamiliar with POOL it was created 10 years ago to provide a well-rounded representation of items that will keep the boutique and lifestyle market at the pulse of emerging trends. TONS of buyers from all over the world will be there & if I said I was flattered to be chosen as a vendor - it would be a massive understatement. This is a chance of a lifetime!
This will be an incredibly expensive trip. By the time I get back home after the show I will have spent roughly $5,000 on samples, airfare, hotel rooms, promotional meterials, decorations for my booth to help me stand out in a sea of other super talented up and coming designers and many other little things that would only make me feel overwhelmed if I listed them.
I have been planning this trip for months and had figured out how to cover these costs on my own.. until 3 weeks ago when the roof caved in at Model Citizen Headquarters (I operate my business out of my home). I was catching up on some much beauty sleep when the ceiling fell though.. On top of me! My apartment, while totally charming, was seriously old and hadn't really been kept up. So I was forced to move at the drop of a hat. Moving expenses totally wiped out my Vegas fund. I'm not crying on your shoulder - it's just what happened! I'm only asking for $1,000 to help me pay for my booth. Which I have already paid $1,000 on. If you would like to give more to help pay for my other expenses -it would be seriously appreciated and I will crown you Model Citizen of the YEAR!

a line of T-shirts, dresses, hoodies, yoga wear, jewelry, accessories & more emblazoned with edgy, punk-y, empowering, delightfully brash designs not always associated with a “model citizen”.
Rue, who volunteers often at Austin’s homeless shelter & donates regularly to women’s rights groups & charities (very model-citizen behavior), draws designs inspired by the antics of her friends, the music she grew up surrounded with & that surrounds her now & puts them on a variety of curve-enhancing clothing items as well as jewelry, tote bags & other accessories for good girls, geeks,
