Help the Euclid Symphony Orchestra keep a 50 year tradition going with a free kids concert!
The Euclid Symphony Orchestra has brought together local musicians from Euclid and the greater Cleveland area to perform since 1961, making this year our 50th Anniversary. We're proud of that tradition, and to celebrate we'd like to provide a free performance for the youth of the communities that have supported us for so long.
For the past few years we've been performing at the Shore Cultural Centre in downtown Euclid, Ohio. We've built a nice following over the years - visitors from more than 60 communities attend our concerts, because the orchestra provides quality, affordable programs. We plan to celebrate with our audiences at an anniversary performance in May. And this spring we'd also like to invite 1500 children to come to the 50th anniversary performance, as our guests.
The children come from local elementary schools, and for many this is their first experience of classical music. They love it, and they say so. We have stacks of hand-written thank you notes with beautiful illustrations -- like the one from Lauren, who drew the orchestra on stage and wrote: "Thank you for playing for us. I liked An American Rhapsody. It reminded me of my grandpa who died during World War II. I like listening to music like this so I can daydream with the music."
We like to let children dream. And we want them to come to our show at no charge. But of course, nothing is really free. Even with the most dedicated volunteers in the world, there are costs for the music, the music director, technicians, space, programs and more.
And this, of course, is where you come in. Any money that is donated here on Kickstarter will go to covering costs for the performance itself. A little can go a long way (cliche yet true). Even a $1 donation will help. The kids will thank you! (And so will the musicians.) We hope you'll consider a gift, to give music to the kids.
