Passing Time is an exhibition of 17 documentary-diptychs from two days of death and birth in photojournalist Mark Mirko's family.
In the spring of 2008, my wife, Stephanie, gave birth to our second child, Alice. That fall we euthanized our 11-year-old dog, Woofie. I photographed those two days as part of my family's visual record.
The images were not made with any specific presentation in mind; rather, they were made because each experience was something I wanted to remember and share.
Chris Huestis, of Photosynthesis in Manchester, Connecticut, has reserved space in his gallery to hang this exhibit of very personal photographs.
Funding will support the production costs of printing and framing thirty-four 11 x 17 prints in 18 x 24 frames. Each framed print will be produced with archival materials.
