I'll be recording my first studio album with some fantastic musicians come January!!!
It's exciting as an artist when you have a body of work you can truly believe in, and that's what I feel I have with these songs. They're songs that acknowledge the longing we have as human beings to do something great, to make our life count; but they also recognize the fact that we often fall short of the ideals we hold. I want remind myself and others that it's okay to live in this tension of dreams and shortcomings.
I recorded my first EP last winter and did it all myself, from recording to pressing to the artwork. This time I want to make something that will do my songs justice and record a full LP in a professional studio as well as get my album professionally mastered and pressed. I have some amazing musicians backing me on bass and drums to do this, as well as other studio musicians that have offered to help with things like pedal steel and piano.
I am recording at Feral Studios in January. The studio is an awesome space that supports the local music community here in Salt Lake and Jay, the recording engineer, has over 10 years of experience. All said and done, the total cost for 9 days of recording, mastering the album and pressing 1,000 copies is going to be around $5,000. I am working hard and saving up half of the total cost but I need an additional $2,500 to get this project done.
