Update #5: Rain Date Schedule for August Washout!

Posted on September 7, 2011

Hey All,

While I think most of you may know via Facebook that we're on for Sunday, September 18 on the boardwalk, I thought I'd let you know here too.

Rewards have been distributed for all of you except those who requested a recording of the 7/17 boardwalk session. There has a been a delay in getting this from the person who recorded it but I expect it in the next few days.

Thanks to all of you for the tremendous show of support!

Update #3: Coney Island Reggae

Posted on August 16, 2011

Friends,

Obviously is was a letdown that the rain kept us from the boardwalk on Sunday, but I still feel great about this show of support on Kickstarter. I'm working on rescheduling another date for this year. However, if that isn't possible, your contribution will help get things going next year in addition to covering the expenses from the events that took place in May and July of this year.

Again, I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to have so many people pitch in to make this happen. It wouldn't be sustainable going forward without you.

I'll be gathering some information from each of you - addresses, etc, to send out your rewards for supporting the project.

Best,

Carter

Update #1: Coney Island Reggae Update

Posted on August 9, 2011

It's really heartening to have more than 20 backers contributing a total of over $900 with just under one week to go. I'm very confident we'll make the goal thanks to everyone's generosity and belief in this project.

I recently completed a promotional mix for VP Records that will be available on their website, and I'll make sure all contributors receive the download code in addition to other premiums.

Many thanks!

Connected as Carter Van Pelt (1643 friends)

I got hooked into reggae as a teenager in the 80s and the passion has never stopped growing. The reason my interest has gone beyond the surface is that I don't separate it from Jamaican culture. The soundsystem is a big part of Jamaican culture, and that's the reason for this event - it gives people a chance to hear reggae the way it should be heard. For those who have never experienced the soundsystem, it's the perfect introduction to Jamaican music.
