Aspen's debut EP combines influences of americana, blues, jazz, and pop.
The Aspen Jordan EP is my debut solo project! I am trained as a jazz singer, but in this album I had the opportunity to look outside of jazz music for influence. The main inspiration behind this album is Americana music: artists like Bill Withers, The Band, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Leonard Cohen. But there are also touches of influence from outside the country: a little bit of Carlos Gardel, and I couldn't escape everyone's current obsession, Adele. In the process of writing and producing these songs I've really fallen in love with them, and I'm so looking forward to sharing them with my family, friends, and - hopefully - everyone else!
The EP will be arranged by Tod Rainey of Rainey Day Music, and recorded in Seattle, using local and remote artists. If this Kickstarter campaign is successful, I will be able to hire some really fantastic musicians to back me up on the album, and start working on my next project!
