About this project
Most relationships share the same dynamics, exciting beginnings, followed by passionate moments, then a period of doubt that sometimes leads to chaotic endings.
“Eli & Lulu” explores the anatomy of such a relationship. Anyone who has ever been in a relationship will be able to relate to this pretty universal story but also be “enchanted” by the uniqueness of its characters and its striking visuals. We follow the different stages of Eli and Lulu’s relationship, each stage symbolizing a season. Everything on screen will reflect the different seasons with the help of sound, wardrobe, art direction, etc…
Eli, an artist stuck in his studio with two broken legs after a motorcycle accident, struggles to create a piece for a big exhibit. Lulu, a mysterious woman enters his life as a muse with the power to unleash his creativity.
They soon become lovers and explore with art and all their senses, letting themselves be consumed by the passion of their explosive relationship. In that “closed” space of Eli’s studio they confront their demons, fears and hopes. Stripped down from all inhibitions they are forced to face their true nature at its very basic level.
All movies are a collaborative effort but this one is even more so because we’re planning to work with local artists (such as musicians/composers, sculptors, painters, clothing designers, make up artists, art directors) not as hired crew but as full participants in the project. We expect them to come up with beautiful and inspiring work that will showcase their talent and help create a strong piece.
All donations will be used for the following production departments:
- Equipment rental
- The crew
- Insurance
- Location rental
- Set design & props
- Wardrobe
- Make-up
- Catering
- Post-production/scoring
Since 95% of the movie takes place in one room, and we have to show the change of seasons, a big part of the budget will be allocated to the set design and wardrobe because they’re essential elements in the story telling.
