About this project

Similar to our last record, My Oh My (2009), this project will be a collaboration between
musicians/magic makers------->
Jake Merkin (jakemerkin.bandcamp.com/),
Joey Dosik (vimeo.com/14217939),
Theo Katzman (theokatzman.com),
myself (www.annaash.com),
and
creative director/artist--------> Sam Strand (www.samstrand.com).

Unlike our last project where we recorded in a church, we're going to use a variety of acoustic spaces and studios. Although I adored making a live record in a gorgeous old dusty echo echo of a church, this time around we want to get a little bolder, and a whole lot bigger-- we're talking strings & horns & gospel choirs.

We'll also be pressing it to vinyl (no CDs, just download sleeves and records). In order to do this, we're going to need a bit of cash money assistance (studio time, musicians, engineers, mastering, packaging, and album artwork.) I've been saving up, waiting tables, and playing shows, but without a label there's no way I can finance a full-length recording project on my own.

The tunes are ready, the players are lined up, and we're spending all of our extra hours hammering out arrangements and making garage demos-- one of which you can hear in our new video, Just Like the Movies (http://vimeo.com/16749768). I'll be making blog updates on annaash.com and trying to make some more music videos with photographer extraordinaire Tomo Saito.

Once more- Here is a concrete list of what we will use your donations for:

Gospel choir!
Individual Musicians!
Studio time!
Engineering!
Mastering!
Record sleeve/Vinyl!
Album artwork!

Thank you so very much for your support.

A year ago I moved from Ann Arbor, MI to Oakland, CA where I've been working on new tunes, learning to play the electric guitar, and eating the best tacos of my life. The relocation has been extremely challenging, but I've met some beautiful people who inspire me to try a lot harder.

In the nearest future I would like to have a big classy band that goes on tour and plays in abandoned churches and Winn Dixie parking lots. I always want late-night slow dances, early morning swims, and fireworks in the street.
