About the project:

Robert Harland Perkins Hollywood Memories is a project to digitize and preserve thousands of negatives and prints from the 1950,1960, and 1970 era. The images are of celebrities of that era including actors, musicians, sports figures, and an occasional politician. 

Mr. Perkins passed away in 1986 and since then his negatives have been stored in boxes in a garage where they are in danger of deteriorating from heat, moisture and (hopefully not) vermin. 

I am in possession of these works through purchase and inheritance. I believe these works are a valuable part of Hollywood history that should not be lost.

I will scan and catalog each negative, and each print for which no negative can be found. I will also scan  all proofsheets to preserve the historical value of the cropping and rejection information, and the information written on the backs of many proofsheets. 

While the principle purpose of this project is to preserve the images it will also enable the use of the images for publication of the images as prints, books, calendars, public shows, and a database of historical interest available to the public..

How the funds will be used.

• Creating High resolution scans of negatives and prints. 
• Reserving digital media for primary storage and backup.
• Acquiring proper containers for original film storage.
• Research for identity of unknown personalities in images.
• Creating a catalog of digital images, prints and books to fulfill donor awards.
• Search for a public repository to insure continuation of the collection.

Regarding the rewards. Donors of $250 or more may elect to receive a number of smaller prints of equal value to the larger print. Images will be placed on a website and donors may select their reward prints from those images as they see one they want. I will scan what I think will be most popular images first so selections can be made sooner. Estimated delivery dates are just that - estimates. I will be working diligently to complete this project.
