About this project
Every single day hundreds of children are diagnosed with terminal illnesses such as cancer or MDA. The strength, bravery and courage these children show during their short lives and in their darkest hours is amazing. These kids really are heroes in the truest sense of the word.
The "Hidden Heroes" project is an idea brought to life by my wife Kim when she found out that the son of a classmate of ours had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and is bravely fighting the most important battle of his short life using the only tools he has...his smile and positive attitude. This touched her heart deeply and the "Hidden Heroes" project was born.
What is the "Hidden Heroes" project? The HH project is our way of giving a terminally ill child a representation of just what heroes they really are by drawing them into their very own personalized comic book. The child will be the main character of their own 16 page professionally drawn full color comic book that features items directly from that child's life and experiences and the child will be given 5 copies of the finished comic at absolutely no charge.
We plan to do a five child pilot program and are hoping to raise enough funds to hire five separate indy artist/writer teams to produce the books. We are also working with the good folks over at What The Flux Comics and Comix WellSpring to print the books.
Along with the Hidden Heroes project, we plan to use the funding to produce a one-shot comic featuring superhero kids which will be used as a fundraising vehicle to keep generating funds for the Hidden Heroes project beyond this Kickstarter campaign.

For ponying up one-hundred and fifty dollars we will put your name and personal message on your OWN page at the back of one of the books we actually give the children. There are only five books being made so this is limited to five pledges!

For going in whole hog and pledging two-hundred and fifty dollars you will receive a cameo appearance in one of the books we actually give the children! I'm Scott and she's Kim. We live in Southern California, but are originally from a small town in Wisconsin. She's a Speech and Language therapist for children and I own a comic book shop.
