I'm very excited to finally be recording my new CD! It's been ten years since my last one, ten years of loving and collecting a very special mix of songs that mean so much to me.
Since my last CD, I’ve written a theory book for singers that was published last year (yay! and thanks, Gerard & Sarzin!). I’ve had a great time sharing that work with music educators around the country, singing in clubs in New York and Boston, teaching at Berklee and in workshops in Italy and Brazil, and studying piano. But after all that, I am thrilled to be back in the studio, focusing my passion and creative energies on the best and most involved recording project that I have ever done.
And I am so lucky to have the creative brilliance of Greg Hopkins to hold it all together. Greg is the great jazz trumpeter/composer/arranger/band leader who has arranged my eclectic mix of songs, keeping them fresh and musically interesting. He is a consummate professional!
We recorded basic tracks in August with twelve amazing musicians, some who have played on my previous CDs: Tim Ray - piano, Paul Del Nero - acoustic bass, Fernando Huergo - electric bass, Bertram Lehmann - percussion, Shannon LeClaire - alto sax and clarinet, Bob Patton - flute and engineering (he engineered my last CD "Weaver of Dreams" as well) and Fernando Brandão - flutes. And I was honored to play with and get to know Mark Walker - drums, Rick DiMuzio - tenor sax and clarinet, Ben Whiting - bari sax, and Eric Hofbauer - guitar. I had such a great time making music with all of them.

Two things hold these songs together: my love for them, and Greg Hopkins' perfect arrangements, which capture the unique character of each song.
We recorded the basic tracks in early August at the famed Blue Jay Recording Studios in Massachusetts. What a joy it was to record at this top-notch studio. The sound and feel there were so warm and inviting that it energized and inspired our sessions. I think the tracks we recorded are positively delicious. Now I need your help so we can finish the project. I am so excited to present these songs in a new light and to share them with all of you. But your support is essential so we can pay musicians, mix, master, license, and produce the CD, then advertise and distribute it. I have released two CDs on my own label so I know the risks and challenges involved in releasing a CD. The biggest challenge is getting everyone involved to keep on schedule and I am happy to say that everyone involved is excited and motivated to get this done as soon as possible so that we can get it released and enjoy hearing it!
