Update #16: Premiere scheduled!
Update #15: Final Months
Dearest Backers,
With under two months left, things are happening quickly. I'm getting daily music cues from my incredible composer Daniel Chan, visual effects from my remarkable VFX wizard Tony D'Agostino, and I'm personally animating Roach's antennae.
I'm including a photo of our work-in-progress screen grab for the opening shot. It's a mock-up of the matte painting (all of the buildings in the background) with temp CG buildings in the foreground. In the end, it will be a combination of CG animation and miniature building footage. The squiggly yellow stuff is a place holder for where smoke will be animated. I can't tell you how excited I am about this show. Even in its preliminary form, it looks far better than I could ever have imagined...
I'm talking to other graduating USC filmmakers about putting together a screening of our thesis films, and we're hoping to screen the weekend of May 13th. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I will let you guys know!
Also, I've become part of a truly amazing motion capture project with my good friend Christian Hall. He's building consumer level motion capture software using the Kinect, and I'm directing a short CG film to demonstrate the technology.

Hope you are all doing well!

Update #14: VFX, Music, Sound... ACTION!
We're gunning to finish "Josephine and the Roach" by the end of April, so things are really starting to move forward quickly. We're in the process of distributing all of our 80+ visual effects shots to our VFX team. Meanwhile, our illustrious composer, Daniel Chan, has begun work on the musical score. Just the other day, the incomparable Peter Bufano, a project backer and kickstarter superstar in his own right recorded Josephine's accordion playing. Across the country. Via Skype. You can see Peter (and Daniel and myself in the lower left hand corner) in this lovely screenshot...
More updates soon as this crazy adventure enters its final stage of post production...
