Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on June 28, 2012.

Photo-main

Angela and Laura cooked in a kitchen, and their worlds will never be the same.

Toasty Buns Cooking Show is a Youtube-based video series that combines simple, delicious and healthy recipes with food justice education, using humor to create a lasting and impactful learning experience.

Wow!

Each episode will be featured on the Toasty Buns website, along with detailed recipes and a robust discussion of the issues at hand. This way, we aim to draw connections and invoke a dialogue surrounding the effects that our daily consumptive decisions have upon personal, social and environmental health.

But ...

We need your help in making this vision a reality! The funds we raise on Kickstarter will enable us to film our pilot episode plus produce at least 6 more episodes this year.

By supporting Toasty Buns, you are contributing to a growing movement of bringing healthy and ethical food to people's tables. The benefits of your kind donation will spread like coconut butter across the arid slab of toast that is this urban world.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Whose Toasty Buns will be featured in the show?

Mostly those of Angela and Laura, seen here in this video, but the show will also include guest appearances from seasoned chefs and eco-foodies, who will share their knowledge and provide valuable insight into their respective areas of expertise.

We will also highlight the efforts of food justice projects, organizations, and businesses. In this way, we aim to present a broad-spectrum image of the contemporary food supply system.

So are you professional chefs or something?

Nah, not really. Sure, our food is delicious, and we could chop a carrot faster than Jamie Oliver can say “hello,” if only we had a proper knife. Though lacking in cutlery, in good spirit we abound.

Our goal is to make food that is accessible for everyone, regardless of your cooking abilities. We want to share this journey with our viewers, chronicling the ups and downs of our culinary education.

This show has already been an adventure for us. We know that wanting good quality, affordable food is one thing; but actually making it is another story. Toasty Buns is our experiment in integrating healthy, earth-friendly cooking into our far-too-busy and distracted twenty first century lifestyles. If we can do it, you can too! That's what we hope, anyway.

Where's your website?

Thanks to the help of our dear friend and innovative web designer Dusty Mendes, www.toastybuns.org will soon be available to the public. Prepare to behold a smorgasbord of episodes, blog posts, and other Toasty Buns related fun. The site will be a delicacy for the eyes!

Who's that cat in your video?

Oh, that's Simba. He occasionally taste-tests our food.
