A peek at the game and new reward tiers!

Hi, welcome to our first update - it has been less than two full days, but we are already overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm for the project and the sheer amount of mails we get :) Thank you all, for your help and encouragement and keep spreading the word!

Now that we have set off to have the community at the heart of our endeavors, we try to answer each and every mail as soon as we can. Some of you have raised interesting questions, which we try our best to address, but in some cases it is too early in the project to give a definite answer, so please be patient with us.

Many backers asked us about the visuals of the game and are worried about it running in the browser or on tablets and still playing and looking good enough. Well, we think it is best you judge for yourselves :)

Here are some in-game shots from our gallery (you can also find them below or download them here and here and view them fullscreen to get an idea how the game screen will feel). The final game will be closer to the camera, so you can see more of your character, but this is still being discussed and play tested.

Gameplay

Walking around in the sprawl and our other hubs, players are going to move in real-time, changing to turn-based once you enter combat. We have recently implemented the pen and paper action system (free,simple, complex action) and it works great! The turns are fluid, you don't have to wait too long for other players and best of all movement (which is MUCH more important than in the pen and paper version) becomes an interesting tactical choice. It feels like the right mix of action and tactics befitting the game. We didn't expect the initiative and action system to transfer SO well and we are quite happy with the basic system now.

New all digital reward tiers

Some backers mentioned they would appreciate lifelong subscriptions at an earlier reward tier - well, the rewards are calculated based on the mix of physical and digital goods, so we now offer two new all digital packages at lower tiers, which we hope will be more to your taste.

      I would like to recommend you add something to the 275 level. Originally, the life time premium (assuming $10- a month fee) ment if you stuck with the game for 2 years, or more you were saving a lot. Under the updated system ....$40 for the game and $15 every 3 months (asssuming a new expansion every 3 months like clockwork) you are looking at 4 years.

      Perhaps an upgraded free 1 step upgrade on any "lifestyle" for characters on that account (if lifestyles are used in the game). Alternatively, an extra lifetime copy for your significant other, or perhaps double the character slots if those are limited, or the same initial benefits for any character created with that account (IE the ICON, Augmentation, starter gear etc)

      I am really excited about the game and will not be changing my pledge. Even so, there are not a lot of reasons to pledge 275 vs the lower levels. Given that even though we expect the game to be great and amazing we have not actually played it yet.

      I have it on good word that some time tomorrow, there will be a massive intel dump on Shadworun Online's Kickstarter. So, please, check the kickstarter tomorrow and look for that update. It may be in the updates tab, and the project home page may also get some new information! And, some of you will be a little less disappointed, some of you will have had your doubts completely addressed, and some of you will be so extactic it'll BLOW. YOUR. MIND. (Yes!       Just want to say, that after the lackluster performance of many mmo's recent;y, I'm truly excited about this project, so much so that I went ahead and pledged 275. I also agree with Mr. McKenzie, and would love an offline PDF as well.

      Any chances of the PDF for the SRO campaign book being included in the 275 level? A PDF is digital and it seems odd not to be in the high-level all-digital package.

      Hmmm... was hoping for a $60.00 digital only tier but kinda expected it to be something like stuff from $50.00 tier + augmentation + digital POSTER of ORIGINAL SRO ART. Adding the game soundtrack at lower tiers would also be nice - most other game kickstarters add it from the $30.00 tier onwards.

      I dunno if there's any scope for this, but I'd love to be able to have some sort of signature hack like The Smiling Bandit (Strikes Again! Ha! Ha! Ha!) if there was some appropriate part fo the game where this would look cool even! I hope there's a gear catalog where we can post comments like in the sourcebooks :)
