I plan to produce a play that will allow the young actors to really express themselves in a story told through dance.

Hi, I’m Jeff Davis
My kids are actors in children’s theater. My wife and I volunteer quite a bit with kids. We think it’s important to nurture the development of the skills that theater helps to enhance.
I want to produce a play that will allow these actors to really express themselves. I’ve begun working on a script that tells a story through different styles of dance, because Dance is one of the purest forms of expression. It’s worthy of support.
It’s a story of fairies and wood sprites and creatures that will appeal to the actors as well as the audience.
I’ve assembled a team of people who know how to stage a show like this, and I’ve gathered the right young actors, dancers and singers to bring such a show to life.
But, we need your help. We need to raise funds to do it right, to make it worthy of the efforts that these kids will put into it. Sets, costumes… it all takes money.
Please help.
There will be some cool stuff available for you when you contribute, so please donate. Together we can make this show happen.

We'll use the funds specifically to:

Buy materials to build the special sets we'll need to achieve the look and scale of the fairy world.

Buy materials to create the costumes. These will be unique. No off the shelf stuff here.

Acquire a few special pieces of lighting equipment.

Publicize and promote the show. (tentatively planned for 10/31/12)

Film and create the mini-doc and DVD of the performance.

FAQ

  • Kickstarter is a crowd funding website. It allows people from anywhere to log into a project, contribute money to that project, and view updates to that project.

  • The money you pledge is collected by Amazon Payments. It’s about as tried and true as it gets.

  • Kickstarter has a unique feature; if we don’t hit our funding target, you don’t get charged for your contribution.

If we haven’t raised the whole amount, (in our case, $5,000.00), our contributors, (that’s you), don’t get charged a cent.  So, if by August 31, 2012, we have raised $4,999.99, no one gets charged, we don’t get anything and the project is closed.

The other sites collect your money as soon as you pledge it. If we didn’t hit our target, they would return it, minus their handling fee. We didn’t want you to have to pay unless we could deliver on our project.

  • Yes! Any funds we raise beyond our target goal go into making our project bigger and better!
