   The Nutritious Delicious FoodBook aims to reconnect school aged children and young families to real food in a novel way.

     The Nutritious Delicious FoodBook is not just another healthy cookbook—nor will its audience be limited to a particular group.  Groundbreaking in its reach, this FoodBook is principally designed as a manual to help children and young families make healthy delicious food choices as well as to promote current research which advocates greater consumption of vegetables and fruit.  The book accomplishes both without compromising great taste.

       The Nutritious Delicious FoodBook will appeal to kids (kid-friendly recipes and videos) as well as to adults (bullet-type information, links to cooking videos and new-style recipes).  The book will be embraced by adventurous “new” cooks as well as the kitchen-conversant—anyone who wishes to take control of their health and well-being while enjoying delicious food that can be eaten in a variety of ways. 

The Nutritious Delicious FoodBook acknowledges the reality of today’s stressful lifestyle and provides a plethora of food options that can be prepared by children as young as ten and by families who are often pressed for time and resources. The FoodBook describes, in a very clean and unique format: what we should eat, why we should eat it, how it can be prepared, when is the best time to eat it, and where to find it or how to grow it.

  The Nutritious Delicious FoodBook  is brimming with simple and enticing ways to prepare food, including great cooking techniques and nutritional tips from local chefs.  (Over 18 school districts on Long Island have submitted family-friendly recipes! ) 

Recognizing that many children must feed themselves at various points of the day, each chapter contains an easy-to-follow, kid-friendly recipe and a list of things that children can do (Kids Can…) to be engaged in the kitchen.

Our ultimate goal is to Change the Way People Eat.  To accomplish this goal, we would like to distribute the Nutritious Delicious FoodBook free of charge to all families in participating schools. The aim is to build a base of users by creating multiple platforms for the information and recipes that we want to share.   Funds from this Kickstarter campaign will go towards the graphic design of the Nutritious Delicious FoodBook  in all its incarnations and the associated costs of publishing, printing and distributing it. 

Every dollar raised above the $15,000 will go towards the production of additional instructional videos featuring talented local chefs and the creation of cool easily accesible apps.  The Edible School Garden FoodBook group has been meeting for over two years and is ready to make this dream become a reality!
