Photo-main

Veterans is a series of portraits of people who took part in the Second World War. Project being shot in countries that participated.

Veterans is a series of portraits of people who took part in the Second World War - the one event in human history that could not - and still cannot-  be compared with any other event  on the scale of catastrophe, human tragedy, and the degree of impact on the future of our civilization. Every single person who took part in the war, whether they were a soldier or a general, prisoner or a guard, medical worker or an engineer, took part in shaping the image of the world as it is seen and perceived today.

For this project, I am traveling to multiple countries that were affected by the war the most, interviewing, and taking portraits of those who took part in the war. My goal is to assemble a mosaic of people who at one moment were all engaged in this incredible tragedy, and in the other were living their separate lives in different corners of our planet. These images all have a common thread, and display not just the subjects themselves, but their place in time.  The story that the subjects tell is not just one of war, but one of youth and maturity, home, and country. Their stories cross the lines of nationality, ethnicity, and culture.  As a result, these images can create more understanding of the Second World War, and what it means to move forward after tragedy.

I started working on this project in 2009 and completed only half of what I had planned. Unfortunately, time is running out. Some veterans have died while awaiting their scheduled photo shoot and the number of subjects continues to decline. That's why it's important that I complete this project within the next few months. I am fully relying on your support and I thank you very much for your consideration.
