The purpose of the launch is establishing a start for of the DIAXI story. Beginning with the US Kickstarter audience, we hope create enough noise so that other innovators and early adaptors around the world will take notice. After all, the new hinge that has some unique attributes.

For those with creative hands, they may be interested in applying these hinges to some of their own handiworks. Specification: to fit a 10mm wide article, with knuckle operation in this instance restricted to 90 degress. CNC Brass with Rhodium plating.

Diaxi Chessboard Pledge: $170.00 / $188 / $240

The Diaxi Chessboard uses the patented DIAXI hinge.  This allows for storeage without exposing the important playing squares, locking of the playing surface (in the open position) and play on an un-obstructed surface.  If other chess players are anything like me, a fine no fuss, no distractions board that has a playing surface that is less likely to be scratched... well... I think you have to be a chess player to see the immediate appeal.

Open & locked, the board specs fit a competition grade board:

 420mm x 420mm x 10mm (1.650kg) // 16.5in x 16.5in x 0.4in (3.75lbs)

The black herringbone check is used on for the front and back of the board; the laqure finish is of piano grade polish standard.  The $240 version has genuine leather bound to the external non playing face (no picture available at this stage).

A fine chessboard needs fine chess pieces.  These pieces fit the grade.  They are the classic Staunton ebonized 3 inch pieces.  Triple wieghted with spare Queens (2 of) and finely crafted Knights.
