~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now expanding the shorter film REFUGE into a feature-length film REFUGE~The Journeys. The new, more narrative, inclusive film will continue its exploration of the impact of Buddhist culture and religion on Western society. It includes interviews with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Martin Scorcese, Melissa Mathison, Richard Gere, Oliver Stone and Philip Glass, among others.
LIVING CINEMA, Directed by John Halpern, offers Tibet House participants a rich, cultural, cinematic experience, in real-life. I coin the experience LIVING CINEMA because it provides an "experiential reality" of what the film is intended to feel like once it is completed.
Immediately upon entering Tibet House from our New York streets we enter the prayer wheel room where wishes and prayers can be offered. A golden bust of His Holiness the Dalai Lama presides and colorful images of Tibet, in map and pictures line the walls. As we ascend into the performance space a media cave and billowing prayer flags, a light incense and music welcome us. We're invited to write ours and those of loved ones on a prayer banner.. More
Come be part of this unique, cultural, filming experience - an evening, filled with healing yoga, meditation, dance and music, REFUGE~The Journeys Sneak Preview and media wall paper, Tibetan and organic wine, and food tasting. You will experience a sand mandala completed before your eyes and see and hear stories from East to West from the 1950's Tibet until Tibet House, today. An informative and interactive panel discussion with outstanding participants with audience Q&A,
This Legacy Is Yours
