About this project

UPDATE: Thank you so much to our generous donors! Although we have met our Kickstarter transportation goal, we still have major shortfalls in our overall production budget. Your continued support will help us move this beautiful piece of theater to New York. Many, many thanks for your tax-deductible contributions!

We are the cast and crew of Julia, an original play by Vince Melocchi, which is currently running at Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice, California.

Julia is the story of an elderly man who returns to his hometown of McKeesport, Pennsylvania to right a wrong he had done as a young man to the girl he loved. Upon his return, he discovers she now suffers from Alzheimer's disease. He desperately seeks the forgiveness of someone who can't even remember who he is.

The production was recently nominated for three L.A. Weekly Theater Awards, including Best Play Writing, Best Direction and Best Female Lead Performance.

Now, we have been invited to bring our play to New York City for a limited engagement run at the Off Broadway theatre 59e59. Owned and operated by the Elysabeth Kleinhaus Theatrical Foundation, 59e59 presents productions by not-for-profit theatre companies, like ours, from around the world. The foundation approached us about mounting our production of JULIA, to open on April 21st of this year, as part of their America's Off Broadway theatre festival. It's an exciting opportunity to share our story of forgiveness and redemption with a whole new audience, and we need your help.

In order to make this happen, we have to actually get there. We need to raise funds for the transport of the set, props, costumes and ourselves across the country.

Any amount of funding you could provide to help us reach our goal would be and greatly appreciated. As we are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, your contribution would be tax deductible.

Check out juliatheplay.com for more.

Many thanks for your time and consideration.
