Meet Emily Humble
A few weeks ago, we cast Atlanta actress Emily Humble as Amber, the leading lady of Special. To introduce her, we decided to ask her a couple of quick questions about the film and her character.
“When did you first hear about Special?”
I actually first heard about Special through my roommate, Travis Grant. He was was the lead in Wesley’s last film, Rearview.
Wesley apparently had called Travis letting him know he was getting
ready to have auditions for Amber’s role in Savannah and Travis
recommended me for the project.
“Can you tell us about your character, Amber?”
Amber is a shy young woman who is a
little awkward in social situations. She’s a smart girl who has a
little bit of nerdy side to her too which will be evident throughout
some of the film. Amber doesn’t really ever get attention from guys and
doesn’t know how to react to it when it happens. So when Sam initially
starts showing interest in Amber at this party the are both at, it makes
her very uncomfortable at first and this is where the relationship
between the two of them starts to form.
“Do you identify with Amber and her situation?”
I do. That’s one of the things
that I really love about this story. I feel like her character and
situation is very easy to relate to for everyone. We have all known an
Amber at some point. And we have all been in Amber’s situation, had a
friend, or sister or someone we care about go through what we see her go
through in this film.
“What do you think will be the biggest challenge for you as an actress working on the film?”
Well, I feel like because of the
fact the we have all known someone like Amber who goes through her
situation the most important thing for me and also the biggest challenge
for me is making that character believable. Being as honest and true to
the story as possible. I want people to feel for Amber. She’s an
incredibly likeable character and I want the audience emotionally
invested in her story.
“Anything else you’d like to add?”
Just that I am thrilled to be able
to be a part of this project. I know Wesley is a very talented director
and I know the rest of the cast and crew are amazing as well. I can’t
wait to get started with filming and even more so, I can’t wait to see
the final project once its completed and to be able to show it as a film
that I was so proud to be a part of.
