Kickstarter

The Shaw Brothers are Chris and Andy Shaw from Columbus, Ohio. Yes, we are real brothers, yes we write our own music, and yes we make a living playing music full time. This leaves very little time for a "real job" but we make it work by forever hustling. We play coffee shops, restaurants, bars, house concerts, festivals, cocktail parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs (though surprisingly none yet), and everything in between. This hard work and dedication stems from the strong passion of wanting to be independent, live a fulfilling life, make real authentic relationships, and wait...oh yeah MAKE AWESOME MUSIC that is real and does not sacrifice itself. We have a ton of support from our family, friends, and the local Columbus community (not to mention the places we have traveled all over the U.S.) and can not thank everyone enough for this. 

Playing music for a living we have found leaves little time (and money...ugh money) to actually record the way we need to. Our recording gear we do own just does not even come close to the amazing recording studios surrounding us in Columbus. Not to mention the honed engineering/producing/mixing/mastering skills of Jay Alton who has worked very patiently with us to finish this record. Also, taking ourselves out of the engineer role to truly be able to focus on the songs was very important to us in this process. 

We realized when putting this Kickstarter thing together that we have been playing for around 8 years together (we started as a duo, grew into the full Andy Shaw Band then continued the band and went back to the duo as well) and we have NEVER recorded a full length record as the Shaw Brothers. We have one self titled EP released in 2009 and that is it for official releases. So this album is super important for us to get out and make it sound the way we want it to.

This new album will be six songs just Andy and Chris acoustic (Andy on guitar/ukulele/vox and Chris on violin/guitarvox/) and then six more full arranged songs with Andy and Chris playing every instrument on the track including bass, drums, guitar, violin, ukulele, djembe, stomps, claps, etc. It was a fun album to make and we really can't wait to get it out there. 

Please help us with this final push to get this album out. Your contribution will help us fund the rest of the recording, mastering, mixing. It will also help us order the cd's, stickers, and a national radio campaign which will help us get to some licensing deals so our songs can be played on tv/film/etc. We will also be traveling out west making our way to the annual Song School in Lyons, Colorado. We plan to play some dates out on our way as well, meet people, and spread this album out as far as we can. The road is the next step for Shaw Brothers and your contribution will help us get to the next level in our careers.
