WHAT IS ELEVATOR?

Elevator is a planned feature length film by Nine Finger Productions. Hovering between coincidental circumstance and twisted fate, the film forcefully brings together two strangers with troubled lives, who find solace in each other despite their vastly different backgrounds. Naomi, a headstrong but fragile expectant mother, leaves her small town in Japan for New York City with the firm intention of making her highflying boyfriend her husband.  

Upon her arrival she heartbreakingly discovers his lack of commitment to her and his unborn child. Embarrassed and disappointed by her own naiveté despite her parents’ stern warnings, she makes a quick exit, only to find herself stranded in the elevator.

Emotionally drained by her mistakes and seriously doubting her ability to raise a child on her own, Naomi breaks down to the dismay of Vito, a fast-talking New Yorker with no tolerance for tears who is also stuck in the elevator adjacent to her.  

Like Naomi, the loner Vito is running away from his past mistakes, the most recent being a botched drug deal that left him wounded with two cops hot on his tail. Both are having the worst day of their lives and have no tolerance for one another.

Despite getting off to a rocky start, Naomi and Vito begrudgingly interact and slowly discover in each other what they desperately want: strength and will in Naomi and love and the stability of a family in Vito.

WHY ARE WE MAKING THIS FILM?

Elevator will be Nine Finger Productions’ second feature length film. In making this film, we plan on raising the bar and creating something bigger and better than anything we’ve ever done before, and to tell a compelling story. Elevator is a story about two individuals that are struggling with their identity and the circumstances surrounding them, largely due to their family. 

The value and importance of family is a major theme to Elevator and will be thoroughly explored throughout the film. Our goal is to have everyone that watches our film walk out of the theater with an appreciation of their family and consider how different their lives would have been without them. Of course, we also hope they will feel satisfied and entertained by our film.

WHY WE NEED YOU?

Every dollar of your contribution goes towards the production and development of this film. Your donations will go towards helping fund:

• LOCATION FEES (location permits are expensive. for this film our locations include: an airplane cabin, Los Angeles alleyways, a Japanese train, a grand scale apartment/lobby and much more.)
• ACTORS SALARIES (we are using SAG actors; which means we are using professional actors that will take our film to a higher level but with a price.)
• TRAVELING EXPENSES (not only are we filming in Los Angeles but we are also taking our production to New York AND Japan.)
• PROPS/COSTUMES (your contribution will also fund the little things that we need to make it complete. Prop guns, NYPD uniforms, Eighties electronics, etc.)
• ELEVATOR SET (we are building two elevator sets that will be seen in the majority of the film. Contributions will go to the decorating and building of the set.)
• FOOD (this is important. your contributions will keep us fed and happy on set so things will run smoothly.)
• MUCH MORE (theres a myriad of small expenses that are needed to complete a full length feature film: insurance, sfx makeup, etc.)

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE FILM IS FINISHED?

We plan on bringing Elevator to numerous film festivals across the country and possibly the world. Our goal is to have this film bring us to another level as filmmakers and also to a higher level within the industry. We want as many eyes as we can get to watch this film.

HOW DOES KICKSTARTER WORK?

Your credit card is only charged, if and when, we reach our goal. Funding on Kickstarter is "all or nothing" and if we do not reach our fundraising goal by May 8th, you don't get charged a dime.

At the end of the fundraising campaign, backers will be contacted by the project's producers to obtain any additional information that may be needed (ie. shipping address, etc.). Thank you so so very much, every dollar seriously makes a huge difference.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• Is my pledge amount publicly displayed? 
 No. Only you and the project creator will be able to see your pledge amount. 
• If I donate, when can I redeem my reward? 
 All perks, big and small, will only happen if our goal is met. If we do meet our goal, immediately after our deadline we will contact you to start the process. The soundtracks, DVDs and tickets etc. can only happen after the film is completed, so this will take a bit of time. Do not worry, we will get back to you! 
• What if I don’t want the reward, I just want to support? 
 No problem, there is a button that you can select if you don’t want the reward. 
• Can we exceed the goal? 
 YES! Kickstarter will allow as much money as is given before the deadline. In all reality we need far more than 15 grand, but with Kickstarter being all or nothing we don't want to go too high. Exceeding our goal would be amazing! 
• Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made? 
 YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new reward.
• What happens if the money isn’t raised in time? 
 If our goal isn’t met before the deadline, your card isn’t charged.
• Who does the money go to? 
 Every penny (minus the fees for Kickstarter’s involvement) will go directly to the movie budget--your money goes directly to the funding of this film! 
• I'm not in the US. Can I still pledge to projects? 
 Yes. You can pledge from anywhere.
