Help fund a Playback Theatre workshop and performance in Haiti this August!
We're going to Haiti to train the theatre group Rideau Rouge in using Playback Theatre to re-enact the personal stories of normal, everyday people. Help us get there and produce a first-ever performance of Playback in Port-au-Prince!
Playback is a type of theatre that is useful for community healing. Audience members are invited to tell personal stories, and these are re-enacted by a group of actors. The typical Playback show consists of a few loosely connected stories, told by audience members, and then spontaneously re-enacted. Audiences frequently discover surprising and beautiful connections between themselves as individuals and their community.
Rideau Rouge is a Theatre Workshop in Port-au-Prince, run by Stephanie Saint-Louis, who is Director of Artistic and Literary Creation at the Haitian Ministry of Culture and Communication. The group has been active since 2007, producing theatre work in collaboration with various NGO's, on topics such as HIV and Human Rights.
