Pilot episode of the crazy new web series by EM! Comedy! Dancing! Cartoon Violence! A return to the cartoon traditions of old!
What is Stripper Force?
The short answer is simply a cartoon. The full answer is The Cartoon. Stripper Force represents possibly the cartoon you've been waiting for. I know I have, personally. I've wanted to make this series for many years now. I've had the characters in mind as well as plenty of wacky situations to keep them busy for a good long time.
Stripper Force is a 10 episode series revolving around a group of displaced exotic dancers and their loyal bouncer who have all been recently fired from their positions at the local gentlemen's club. They take it upon themselves to get various jobs together to prove to the world they can do anything they want to. The jobs rarely work out but they always have unintended, funny consequences. The jobs they find range from circus performers to presidents and always end in ridiculous situations and some healthy cartoon violence.
The show is intended to be silly, absurdist and exceptionally cartoony. What does "cartoony" mean? It means squash and stretch. It means crazy situations as the norm. It means hilarious immortality and a lot of slapstick sight gags. It means a call to arms and a return to the halcyon days of animation when characters were funny!
The dialogue will be clever but it won't be the most important part of what makes the show funny. The characters will be funny. They won't be 2-dimensional stereotypes like so many cartoon characters these days. They will be full flesh and blood cartoons in the vein of Bugs Bunny, Ren and Stimpy, Rocko, Heffer and Filburt and even Goofy. The cartoons that made me want to become an animator in the first place.
Who is making this?
Hi! I'm EM, an illustrator and animator living and working out of the Midwest. I've been drawing and selling online comics since 2005 and have finally decided to move into my true passion, animation. I've been animating since I was a little boy, starting with flip books and finally graduating to Flash. My heroes are Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, Ub Iwerks, Joe Murray and John Kricfalusi to name a few. I have been inspired by their work and the work of animators like them since I was old enough to plop in front of a television, and Stripper Force is as much an homage to them as it is my own personal dream project.
The budget I have proposed will cover the cost of animation, hiring really great voice actors, hiring a professional recording studio to get incredibly good audio quality and buying some software to make the project come together in a reasonable time frame. I'm the only animator on the project thus far, but I will be looking at area artists and their portfolios to see if I can use them. The budget will also pay for their time and the cost of producing the various pledge incentives.
A Note on Content
I have two older sisters, a slew of cousins and aunts and an amazing mother who all raised me. My life is full of strong, brilliant, inspiring women without whom I would not be the man I am today. I am lucky to have the best girlfriend on the face of this planet who guides me and champions me and my work daily. All of these people have molded me so crucially that I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the women in Stripper Force, though comedic, are not going to be stereotypes. It might sound silly, but I want this cartoon to work towards better representations of women in media. The characters are fully realized, complex individuals in the vein of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, who are hilarious and engaging for every aspect of their personality. The writing of the show will be done, critiqued and edited by everyone in my life
to ensure that it's as rich and funny as the characters living it out.
