A Sense of Community
First of all, thanks and WOW. Seriously.
One of the most amazing things about the campaign to date has been the immense support that has occurred around it, people from all over the world wanting to help out and offering their own particular skills and passion. It reminds me what a loving and sweet community of people there has always been around origami and how universal that community is internationally.
I’m currently working with people in Germany, France, Japan, Croatia, Russia and right here at home in the Bay Area working on different aspects of the project as it expands to meet the possibilities that your support and ideas have engendered. I really just don’t have words…
I was just speaking with Michael about that the other evening, and how this campaign has turned out to be something much more than an effort to re-release our book. It seems to have struck a chord that is resonating with the artists out there as well as the internet as a whole.
The enthusiasm of the contributors and the strong internet presence of Kickstarter.com is giving us an unexpected opportunity to give our art form even greater recognition and have people discover that origami is far more than "folded paper cranes" and "cootie catchers."
I’ll keep this message short as I’m busily preparing for a “folding party” I’m hosting tomorrow to fold the remaining models for the model menu and to produce more images to get out there in the web, but the big news is that we’re now looking at translating into French, German and possibly Japanese in addition to our other efforts around the Patricia Crawford retrospective.
Oh, and our blog is finally live at creatingorigami.blogspot.com where we’ll be adding more frequent updates, photos and information about the various co-projects as they develop
So please do keep tweeting, liking and Facebook linking… this is a real opportunity for the whole community.
With deep gratitude,
