Con Brio wants to bring music to the people, with a live album and shows around the west coast. Put this band in a van!
2010 was a big year for Con Brio. It saw the recording, production and release of our debut album, From The Hip, and dozens of shows around the Bay Area. In 2011, we want to bring our high-energy live shows to as many places as we can. With the band sounding tighter than ever, we've already made our mark at the South By Southwest festival in Austin and have hit almost every major city in the Southwest. With your help, we hope to continue spreading our music far and wide and bringing smiles and booty-shakes to every corner of the country.
About the live album:
We've recorded a series of San Francisco concerts, capturing all the grit and sweat of our hometown shows
on tape.
The live experience has always come first and foremost, and we want to
share it as best we can with all our wonderful fans. We're working with
the same recording engineer, Cliff Tune, and mixing
engineer, Damien Rasmussen, who did such a brilliant and beautiful job
on our first record. If anyone can bottle the live-show experience, it
is our awesome engineering team.
About the band van:
We've been welcomed with open arms everywhere the band has gone, but with no band-members owning cars, touring outside of the Bay Area has proven financially challenging. We've made it to our Bay Area gigs with a creative combination of cabs, buses, bicycles, borrowed cars, rented cars, and our own feet (if you've seen anyone rolling a massive amplifier or upright bass down Valencia at 2am, it was probably someone in Con Brio). Touring is another animal: renting two cars and paying for gas to get to out-of-town gigs is expensive and very inefficient. Having a vehicle of our own, and only needing to gas up 1 car will make our travel feasible so that we can start laying seeds in new towns and share our music with as many new friends and fans as possible.
Where the money will go:
The money raised by this Kickstarter campaign will go to the production and pressing of our new live album and to purchase a tour van, big enough to transport our full band and all of our gear in one vehicle. We have already recorded most of the material for the live album, but the engineering, art and printing costs will run $3-4,000. The remaining money we raise will go to the band van. If we raise enough, we may even get one with seat belts!
