About this project
The Circle of Regional Effigies will be a ring of 24 effigies that will surround the Burning Man in Black Rock City 2011. Each community will build an effigy representative of their regional Burn or their region period. The CORE effigies will be placed 500 feet from the man. They will be the first artworks placed beyond the great circle pending FAST team analysis and approval.
The Kentucky Regional Burners have been selected to create a 16 ft by 16 ft Bourbon Barrel Effigy.. The Bourbon Barrel is a representation of Kentucky's history and the Bourbon Trail also in Kentucky. The Kentucky Bourbon Barrel is a work of love brought to you from the hills of Kentucky by a collaborative group of Burners from four states. We may be a small group, but we have big hearts. All of which are 100% dedicated to this project.
The 16 ft by 16 ft Bourbon Barrel will have a bung hole for participants to look inside. As well as thin gaps in between the slats for your viewing pleasure. The inside will be covered with art that has been created by people all over Kentucky and abroad. We are setting up painting booths randomly through out some of the larger cities in Kentucky. This is so we can have people that have never even heard of Burning Man participate. We will also be going as far north as Wemindji, QC, Canada and doing an art project there with the Cree youth. We are really trying to fill this barrel with as much art as we can get people to make.
We are in desperate need of Pledges. This project is going to cost more then we have. With the help of generous folks like you, we can build and bring this out to the playa this year. The money that is pledged will go towards building materials, a rental truck, and whatever is let hopefully gas to get us out there.
